Haynes has put together a great manual on Bosch Jetronic, K-Jetronic, CIS-E, and Motoronic systems - that's 3/4 of the book. The rest is the most basic of basics about sensors and testing, same type of stuff found in in the first chapter of any service manual.The manual is detailed and well written, but it needs to be said that the focus is on Bosch's distributor-type fuel systems. It is worthless with respect to Japanese and American EFI systems.If you are looking for a great reference for Jetronic, this is a thorough and inexpensive manual that is more maintenance-specific than the official Bosch book, which is hard to find. If you want to learn about fuel injection principles, try "How to Tune and Modify Engine Management Systems" by Jeff Hartman.Were I after specific information on Bosch systems, I would rate this 4-1/2 stars. It is great reading for that particular system, but lacks part numbers or model/year reference. Since the title deceives the buyer into thinking this is a book about all types of fuel injection offered in the years stated, I would take away another star. Given that it is a well written book despite its narrow scope, I will rate 4 stars with the caveat that the potential buyer understands that it is focused on the Bosch systems found in Volkswagen, Audi, Volvo, Mercedes, and a few others that used CIS extensively during the 80's-90's.

Very detailed book on pre 96 vehicle fuel management (OBD I) systems. I have an 86 corvette that this book will be an invaluable piece of documentation for. It arrived a day early in decent shape for being a used book. Will put it to good use. There is a lot of information in the book and it seems to cover many different vehicles in detail. It is about twice the thickness of most Haynes manuals I have seen (that should tell you something about content). If you have an older OBD I vehicle to work on, this is the book for you.Regards, Pag

Unfortunately this book only covered Chrysler products through 1993, and mine was a 1996. Tons of stuff for other manufacturers, just not my car.

Awesome manuals.

I used to enjoy working on cars and did quite a lot of it, but that was in the carburetor era! While I understood the principles of modern fuel injection and engine management well enough, I was looking for information about the specific types, including how to troubleshoot them.This book provides an excellent background. You may still need professional equipment to perform some of the tests, but at the very least you'd know enough about the systems deployed up to 1999 not to do any damage. It goes into considerable detail about the various components of each type of system in a way that anyone with a reasonable understanding of engines and auto electrical systems should be able to grasp.A good reference.

I like Haynes books but this was very limited on information.I do plan to buy more of there books, but will go to thelocal auto parts store, to check out the content first.

But Sturges's modern fowl, rather than drafting helpers to harvest wheat, asks, "Who'll run to the store and get me some flour?" They reply with the classic, " 'Not I,' said the duck. 'Not I,' said the cat. 'Not I,' said the dog. 'Very well, then, I'll fetch some myself,' said the Little Red Hen." After repeating this ritual several times, the hen prepares her masterpiece solo. Time-lapse sequences show her kneading dough, grating cheese and slicing pepperoni. She holds no grudges against the duck, cat and dog, who share the meal, and all ends happily when the three volunteer to wash the dishes. Kindergarten-Grade 3-A funky rendition of the classic tale. Hen, having decided to make a pizza, discovers that she lacks certain necessities, such as a proper pan. "`Cluck,' she said. `I need a pizza pan.'" When she asks her neighbors to help her out, she gets the expected response: "Not I," said the duck donning her swim cap and tube. "Not I," said the dog wearing a box of dog biscuits and a party hat. "Not I," said the hep blue cat playing the saxophone. So off the Little Red Hen goes to the store to buy the things she needs-along with others she surely does not need, such as a guide to sink installation. When she finally gets her pizza made, the three unaccommodating friends change their tune. The plot takes two nifty twists at the end-and this Little Red Hen is not quite as punitive as in the original story. There's a keen sense of the absurd here, and the hilarious cut-paper illustrations are right in tune with the zany plot. This version can be pored over again and again as much can escape the eye the first time around. It is aimed at an older audience than Alan Garner's The Little Red Hen (DK Ink, 1997). Children who appreciate the humor of Jon Scieszka's The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (Viking, 1989) will fall under this book's spell as well. We read this first at the library, and my son kept talking about it, so we bought a copy for home. This is a very cute retelling of the story of the little red hen. In this version, she makes pizza. Instead of refusing to share at the end because nobody had helped her, she does share the pizza with her three friends, who then in turn help with the washing up. Positive message, and fun illustrations done in a collage style.

It was a cute take on the classic story and had a slightly different ending, which my students weren't necessarily expecting. But I liked the ending as a good example to my students of kindness, sharing, and then still pitching in to help when someone shares and is kind to you. The students also enjoyed the silly little elements added, like the can of worms on the shelf or the extras that the Little Red Hen would buy.

I was shocked to find that the important life lesson in this classic children's tale had been distorted in this revised story. Instead of not participating in the fruits of the hen's labor, in this version the slackers who refused to help get to eat the hen's pizza anyway. Then in an apparent epiphany they do agree to clean up.Since young children enjoy hearing stories repeatedly, I purchased this book this book at the same time I ordered the classic version so my grandchildren could read two slightly different versions. After reading this revisionist version I threw it away. The classic version is the life lesson I want my grandchildren to learn and is the only version I gave them.The illustrations and physical book were fine. It is the revised message I object to and is the reason I threw the book away and do not recommend it to others.

My daughter is 11 and this is still one of her favorite books. I just bought it in hardcover to give to her for her birthday, since apparently she is going to love it forever. The first sentence my daughter ever read (age four) was in this book, I found out years later. The sentence was, "Not I, said the cat."If the original story of the Little Red Hen bugs you because the lazy animals are motivated by punishment rather than reward, you will like this book much better. In this version the Little Ren Hen still gets no help in the production phase, but she shares the fruits of her labor anyway. Her grateful friends then clean up for her while she rests.Both my two daughters and I adore the illustrations in The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza. They are made by cutting and gluing various papers. I have looked at them of over 10 years, and I still always find something new to admire. I have looked for other books illustrated with cut paper by this same illustrator but have not found any, which is a true loss to the world of children's books.I'm a kindergarten teacher and I have to read The Little Red Hen as part of our Teamwork unit. I always read The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza afterward, and my students always like it better than the original because all the animals are treated well.I hope you and your family will enjoy your copy of The Little Red Hen Makes a Pizza.You cannot go wrong with this book. It's great!

Update: I contacted the publisher and received the nicest reply and learned that Page Flip is something Amazon must enable and it takes them awhile to do it. The ToC are links so one can navigate that way, too.Original: I downloaded it and expected to use this book in my Kindle ipad app, but I gave it a quick once over and it's not very functional as it is.The images in the book don't seem to be intended for enlargement—some are blurry when enlarged, which is a loss as the iPad Air 2 screen is smaller than the print edition and some of the images are too small if not enlarged. Also, it doesn't have the Page Flip skim feature which is important for a book of this type. I will return the ebook and may purchase the print version, instead, because I liked what I saw in the sample. (I don't feel right reading the ebook because I expect to return it, thus I can't offer more on the contente.)I would like to see ebook feaures included in the description for informed purchases. The samples don't include all features.

It is one of the most valuable art books I have purchased. Very helpful basic information on graphite and colored pencils. Will spend many hours with this book.

I'm thrilled!! Finally, a tutorial that combines graphite and colored pencils! It's difficult to find good books pertaining to colored pencil art work; a medium in its own right! This is a book to refer to time and time again. Sue Vize is an excellent artist and shows you step by step how to achieve the art you wish to convey. She is a member of the American Society of Botanical Artists and lives in England where she is renowned for her art work. Remember to keep your pencils sharp! It is key to doing work in both colored pencil and graphite.

I am really enjoying this book. I would consider my self a beginner to botanical illustration but have some experience in pencil drawing and coloring. I love the exercises in the book and am already learning a lot! Thank you very much for this!!!

STEPHEN ALVAREZ, who has captured some of the most rarely seen objects on earth, is a photojournalist who produces global stories about exploration, culture, religion, and the aftermath of conflict. He has been a National Geographic photographer since 1995. I bought this for my 92 yo grandpa, who had dementia, for Christmas last year. Gramps had subscribed to Nat Geo mags for as long as I remember. He didn't remember my name when I visited him at Christmas, but he treasured this book. He loved to look through the beautiful pages and he'd even sleep with this book under his pillow! He passed away this summer. I have the book now and when I look through it, I think about all of the joy it's pages gave him :)

Our family loves this book. Since we got this book in the mail my kids (age 7 and 4) ask to spend time every night looking at the pictures and reading about them. The photos are very eye-opening and give the kids, and myself, a new perspective on this world we live in. The quality of the printing and paper is quite nice as well. We have a lot of books around but this one seems to have captured the kids' attention more than any other.

Many of these color photos are almost unbelievable and I can't recall having seen them in the NGS Magazine.The cover is like a photo from another planet. The opening title spread shows a supercell storm cloud that looks like its from a SyFy movie and is hiding an alien star ship.So unusual are the subjects of these photos that even the "Cave of Crystals" that show men in red space suits climbing through a maze of giant icycle-like 30 foot long white shafts of selenite as thick as pine tree trunks located 1,000 feet below ground level don't seem all that odd. It's as if men making a journey to the center of the Earth are in danger of getting lost in the maze of support beams for the Earth's surface.A few pages after the spacemen in the bowels of the Earth there is another one from the Journey to the Center of the Earth is another underground passage of Basalt Columns of Fingals Cave from an uninhabited island Staffa, Scotland. Once back on the Earth's surface there is picture of Fly Geyser near Nevada's Black Rock Desert. Apparently when a drilling company punched a hole in the desert they tapped far enough into a geyserpocket that hasn't closed up and now provides a fantastic geographical formation that graces the cover of this table-top book.While the pictures of the alien-looking geography are great, the people pictures included in the volume are even better starting with the double page spread of "Bog Man" who was hanged 2,300 years ago and then placed in a bog. The bog turned the executed man's mummy into a leather statue that today appears like a solid bronze statue with a leather rope still wrapped around his neck.Men hanging from the ceilings by their toes with their hands folded like bats are part of the training for Shaolin Monks in a Shaolin Montastery in Zhengzhou, China. Those photographs almost give the viewer the creeps. "Wisteria Whimsy" in Japan must have been the inspiration for the Trees of Life and Souls in the movie "Avatar." There are also pictures of Venus Flytraps and Lady Slippers, both carnivorous plants. And then, on page 167 is a Plant-Hopper Perwig that looks like a tiny native with a crazy head dress leaning over to see his reflection in a pool of water. It's even more weird looking than the double-page picture of leaf-tailed gecko that has almost perfect camouflage.There are samples of cave art from Chauvet-Pont-d'Arc as well as more recent art comprised of Graffiti covering the walls and ceilings of tunnels under Paris.There are photos taken on the moon as well as a glove worn when walking on the moon. R2D2 is shown sitting in a half opened shipping crate when he at the Smithsonian.By the time the reader has finished examining the photos in the book he will have to catch his breath because of all the truly breath taking images the beautifully done photographs. And that's no Jellyfish Lake. That lake is also represented in the fine art photographic book.This is one of my favorites of all the NGS Book Long Photo Essays. It's amazing how their publications seem to get better and better.

Great photo book with excellent photography of extraordinary places. It is inspirational to see the photos as well as to marvel at the incredible natural diversity we have on this planet. Highly recommended!

WOW! I know that's not a very sophisticated start to review a National Geographic book, but you will have the same reaction. This book is a sensuous feast for the eyes featuring breathtaking snapshots of some of the most rare and beautiful images on earth! It would be impossible to see all of these in a lifetime! My wife and I are slow-viewing it together and feel as though we are taking short dream vacations all around the globe from our very own love-seat!

Great quality coffe table book. I bought for a angel gift for a senior citizen in a retirement home. They loved it. Lots of beautiful pictures.

I will admit to buying this because of the cover photo of the Fly Geyser in Nevada. Inside are many more just as intriguing. We have it on the coffee table where it never fails to attract a browser. Now we want all the other National Geographic photo books. Just beautiful, and well bound. Cover was in perfect condition, so I probably will have it laminated to extend its life. Stunning in every way.

I purchased this book as a gift for my father-in-law, and was stunned by the detail and quality of the photographs. The photos include unique places, geographies, objects, people, flora and fauna. I would highly recommend this for anyone who enjoys traveling, appreciates nature, and/or enjoys art and photography.

I'm currently evaluating long-term travel backpacks and decided to read this publication in search of ideas for downsizing. Overall, this is a good eBook. My only complaint it that's it's about twice as long as it needs to be given the repetition of content. On the other hand, I appreciate the detailed lists and packing strategies, which is what I was looking for when I started browsing for recommendations. I like that the travel towel was included. So many say it's overkill, but I've used my quick-dry towel for a wide variety of purposes including the following: blanket, to dry clothing (wrap and step on the remove moisture), beach towel for sitting, rolled for pillow, to conceal contents of our vehicle, as curtains (4 times), to protect a rental car from dog hair, as a scarf, as a temporary rain shield, and on and on. It's worth carrying around. The Tortuga is on my short list of possibilities, so thank you for sharing all this great information!

This is a very well thought out and well put together book. I'm convinced, and will be following these guidelines and tips on the next trip I make, using only a carry on bag.The author was very upfront about the company he owns and in promoting his products, I appreciated that and especially liked that he points you in the direction of alternatives. At no time did he come across as hard sell.What would have made this a 5 star review: tips for my specific region. I'm in Australia, so I suspect that some of the TSA guidelines don't apply. E.g.. They mention bringing tiny scissors in carry on luggage; I had mine confiscated when going through security at Sydney domestic airport.In the parts of the book where returning home and having home currency in your bag were discussed, it would have been nice to have it presented in a more generic way - reading about'when you get back to the States' while it may be easy to substitute my country there, it would be better in my opinion if the author didn't come across as assuming all readers are US based.These are very minor quibbles on what really is a very useful and well written book. I received it when it was free, but would happily have paid for it. I've picked up so many really good ideas, as well as a sound understanding of the whys and hows of packing light. I highly recommend this book.Update 6th June 2015: I would also like give my thoughts on other reviewer's comments re repetition within the book. It's true that some things are repeated, but for me this was a very effective way to take in and remember the information - by reading the same concepts coming from different angles. This is not the first book I have read which is basically a collection of blog posts, Alignment Matters by Katy Bowman is another such book which also has its detractors because of this format, but once again it works for me, and for many other people. In any case, as the author says, the repetition is necessary if the book is to be of the most use as a reference - just read the chapters you're interested in, and you won't miss any vital points that are also pertinent to other sections.Since reading this book I have taken on the challenge - I will be flying interstate next month for a 3 day trip, and I'll be doing it all with only 7kg of carry on luggage - no extra personal item allowed (Tigerair Australia)! This would have been in the impossible basket before, but now I KNOW it will work and I'm excited to try it out. It's especially difficult as I'll be travelling in winter, but it's still workable and I'm coming up with all sorts of ways to save weight in my packing that weren't in the book, but which the book has inspired me to come up with on my own and in reading other blogs that they reference.

After starting my international traveling just a few years ago I knew I was making some major mistakes regarding packing, particularly since I was determined to carry ONLY carry-on. This book pinpoints practical approach to the fact that each trip is different, necessitates its own needs while certain logistics are set in stone. Like many books it offers packing lists and recommended luggage, but it's emphatic about the what the traveler actually needs and the "just in case." I definitely plan to use some of the information I gleaned from this publication for my next trip, be it a short 3 hour drive or three year trip around the world.

I am an ultralight backpacker where every ounce you carry on your back on the trail needs to carefully considered to be worth carrying.Lighter backpack means an more enjoyable experience due to the simplicity of having less stuff to burden you.This book is a great resource that take concepts that are familiar to the ultralight backpacker and applies it to the urban traveler.The concepts are laid out clearly and very logically, though there are repeated themes that come up over and over.In that regard, the book itself could be condensed down a bit further, but it does read well and holds your attention, so it is a minor issue.This book is a great mix of laying out the theory of traveling light and giving you specific examples of what to do and what products to buy to help you save weight and simplify your urban travels.However, this book is not simply about cutting weight for weights sake.The advice that is given is also about making sure that you are warm, comfortable, and looking good on your travels.Yes, the author is one of the owners of Tortuga Backpacks, but is very upfront about this from the start and is not heavy handed about pushing their own products.That said, after doing a ton of research, I have come to the conclusion for myself that they make a unique set of travel backpacks that are intelligently designed and very well thought out that has solved some of the short comings of the other travel backpacks on the market.I have already ordered their day pack and will be ordering their Tortuga Air Pack for my next trip abroad.Anyway, the key thing about this book is that it provides you solid concepts and practical tips that can be applied to ANY trip that you take with whatever brand of backpack or luggage that you have that is TSA/Airline Approved for carry on size or even check in size.Whether you are looking to travel light with just a carry on bag or are looking for ways to decrease the weight of your check in bag, this books has useful tips and suggestions for you.
