I'd heard of Mark Yarnell, but always as the "guy who wrote the book on network marketing". This fascinating book tells the other side of the story. Anyone who has been in marketing (network, online, or traditional) for any length of time knows the various platitudes that are exhorted as ways to connect with potential customers and make sales. But what does it mean to really LIVE those values? More importantly, what does it mean to be a member of the household having to live with someone who is living those values? Those were the elements of the book that elevated it to a five-star experience for me.And, of course, there's actual meat here, as well. The seven core decisions have the hallmarks of true wisdom. They are incredibly simple, and not at all easy. After only a few days, I haven't reached the point of being able to decide YES to all of them every day, but I'm certainly deciding to CONSIDER them each day, which is already a great improvement. After all, we cannot change what we do not recognize.Thank you, Amy Yarnell Carter for writing this book, and giving us a glimpse, not only of your father's legacy, but of his humanity.
Wow, The Yarnell 7 really packs a punch! Right out of the gate Amy inspires positive decision making and a call to action. Her father was living proof that you can have the life you want, you just have to DECIDE to choose it! Start by living it everyday and make the world around you a better place at the same time. She must have had an amazing childhood. This book really delivers sound advice and calls to action, based on real experiences and an easy to remember 7 principles are easy to embrace, practice and even remember (you'll see why when you read it!). To share this legacy is not only a beautiful tribute to a great father and human being but an act of generosity for those of us who did not have that example growing up.The most touching story from the book for me is about how the family had to tell the checkout cashiers in Mark Yarnell's favorite stores that he would not be coming back - as he treated them with such respect and positivity. This story and other shares from the author's childhood give a precious and heartwarming glimpse into what it was like to grow up surrounded by such an inspiring attitude.The worksheets are very handy, and other great resources are available on the author's website.A book I can heartily recommend.
