I have bought several of Jerry's books over the years and liked them all. The thing about Jerry is he writes only what he knows about and does it in a way that is very relatable and understandable. Since he was an engineer he is also very thorough. Too many self-published books are done by kindle opportunists who cut and paste and outsource and slap on a fancy cover and game the reviews to pull in the suckers. Jerry is the real deal and a good value. I always say if you get one good tip from a book you got your money back, this book has plenty of down to earth tips and resources. thumbs up!

Jerry's books are filled with information & references...you can start anywhere in this book & read the chapter/chapters which grab your interest. He has a lot of experience full time RVing, plus friends who are living the same lifestyle. If you think that living in your RV is not affordable, Jerry explains the many ways you can cut costs, but also make money on the road. He links to many other Sites on the internet with other people living the same way & how they operate. The book is easy to understand & covers just about any question you have about the financial side of RVing. Highly recommend any of Jerry's books.

As a fulltimer I found this book informative and a fast, easy read. There is plenty of information and links to resources. The key like the author says is "research, research and more research"...,in other words people, do your homework....it will pay off.Many of the references in the book are resources that we use to this day in our fulltime life and we certainly utilized many of them while we were preparing to fulltime.FEAR is a big factor holding lots of people back, if you want to stay stuck then let fear drive the bus and you won't move forward. We were fearful of selling our dream home, guess what that was 3 years ago and we haven't looked back and we don't miss it at all. You won't be disappointed with this book if you are serious about researching the RV lifestyle...go for it.

This book does an amazing job at talking about introductory chemical oceanography concepts. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in search of knowledge about the chemistry of the sea.

We covered a good deal of this text in an undergraduate chemical oceanography class at UC-Davis. It provided a good background into the science and assumes no extensive background in chemistry. There is a strong emphasis on carbonates and for those who are not deficient in manipulating equations, the formulas should be relatively easy to follow. Each chapter comes complete with references and the appendices are very thorough. In my opinion, the index could have been more complete and included more search possibilities, I did have trouble finding very specific items. I come from a biological background and was able to follow every chapter in the Pilson's book. Pilson writes very clearly, and I intend to keep this book as a general reference.

Predictions are fun, especially as I won't live long enough to see whether what I'm about to say will come true.This book will join John Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting, Edgar Payne's The Composition of Outdoor Painting, and Richard Schmid's Alla Prima as a must-have in every oil painter's library.There are several reasons:1. Although you might miss them because they speed on by, every major precept for success is iterated and re-iterated: avoid boring shapes, work to make similar shapes dissimilar, bring color, sharpness and contrast to the center of interest (and dial them down elsewhere), drawing and composition are important but not as important as the abstract shapes -- Charles Hawthorne and Henry Hensche would call these 'spots of color' and Monet called it 'capturing light' -- and most importantly, design your painting.(If you want more about why designing is important, search the incredibly rich blog by Stapleton Kearns for "design." Everything Stape says informs the many statements on design by Goerschner; in a nutshell, good paintings are designed. Goerschner often repeats the need to simplify and alter the scene in front you to further the design. Stapleton puts it more succinctly: "Landscape painting is a lie, well told.")2. The paint-on critiques contain hours of instruction. Hours. They repay long study.3. The book contains a largely-failed plein air example, recording two false starts and one mostly-finished work -- it's signed, but it's not one of the best in the book. Each iteration demonstrates more and more effective simplification and design of abstract shapes. No other art instruction book I've seen discusses failure by the teacher, and Goerschner's analysis suggests helpful ways out of bad-day abysses.4. As others have noted, the presentation -- pictures, prose, sidebars -- is uniformly clear, concise and right on target.Not your style?As an aside: it always surprises me to read one star and two star reviews of art books based on revulsion to the teacher's style.This is not a book on how to paint like Ted Goerschner. It's about how to paint.

Very, very disappointed. The quality of the printed pages is very poor, the colors dull, the paper is flat and cheap. I compared it to my friend's older version by a different publisher and the difference was huge! The original book has glossy pages and true colors. An art instruction book that describes technique and color should at the very least be able to show what the author is demonstrating. I am returning the book.

Very informative with step by step process for developing a painting from beginning to end. Good for amateurs as well as skilled artists. Loads of good information on basics of a good painting from uses of color, composition, brushwork and technique. I will refer often to this book. Suitable for artists of all ages.

I was introduced to this book by my painting teacher.It's full of good explainations and great pictures.His writing is very easy to understand and enjoyable.I refer back to it often and I'm very happy to own two copies (one is clean ,the other is paint stained).It really does have a workshop feel to it; good title.

It would be nice if it were easy to scout out a river before driving to an access point and paddling it. This book does it for you. The directions to access points and places to park are very detailed and good. The maps are excellent and very clear. There are written notes on the problems or special circumstances you will encounter, which are very intelligent and accurate. I checked the rivers I have paddled and read the remarks, and they are just what you need to know, and they are true. The author really knows what he is writing about, this is not a book thrown together by someone who hasn't actually been on the river. Excellent reference book. Descriptions for the rivers that I was familiar with, were very accurate. Nice variety of rivers to choose from. Lists 26 rivers in the Lower Peninsula and 18 rivers for the Upper Peninsula. (Equals 44?) Use this guide along with a good Atlas and you should have to problem finding your areas. Has 4 different Appendixes in the back for...Scale of river difficulty, Rapid areas on each river system, Canoe liveries and contact sources for more in-depth info, if needed, such as local Ranger Stations, Local Chamber of Commerce, etc. Well worth the purchase price.

The information about the actual rivers was excellent, but the car parking & river camping information required for canoe trips was somewhat lacking. Jerry Dennis did answer my emails with good information in a very timely manner. Alot of the contact information in the book is wrong or outdated

I love the updated book. As a former mapmaker, the upgraded maps are fantastic. I do not canoe a Michigan river without reading the entry for that river. I’ve paddled at least 15 of these rivers and every description is spot on.

What a great book! I am a beginner kayaker having never kayaked a river before - and was nervous even thinking about it. This book was very descriptive and informative. We did the Platte River from Loon Lake to Lake Michigan and it was a blast. Very relaxing. The maps of the rivers were great as was the description of the landings and portages. Looking forward to my next river, and this book will help decide which one!

Very beautiful product, as well as informational. The content of the guide is excellent in terms of describing access points and any portages that may occur along the river basin. Also, the cover is made of seemingly high-quality material and feels nice. Only suggestion is that I would recommend a more color-coated inside, and maybe a color-coated map for each river introduced and described in the book.

I heard Professor Nielsen on NPR last week, purchased the book, and I really enjoyed it. The quotes from real people about their experiences with offensive public speech really illuminate how it feels to be in public for people of different social groups and how it differs.Professor Nielsen's insights about legal consciousness are innovative. She convincingly demonstrates how different people have different experiences with the law which lead to different expectations about the law and its capacity to solve social problems. This book is a must read for students in sociology, women's studies, legal studies, etc. You will both enjoy it and learn from it -- a rare combination in academic writing.
