These plays will crack you up! Very fun to read. If you are lucky you are ordering this book for a class. Hope you get to read some of the plays out loud like we did.

These plays are all just so funny. The translation was perfect, helped keep the funniness of the Greek original. So much cross dressing and making fun of Euripides, you'll want to read all of them.

Let me start by saying that this book has the best translations of Aristophanes that I've ever read. Henderson's translations contain really obscene language. That is not to say that I only liked it for the swears. The flow of the play with this obscenity is like the flow of a modern comedy. Why should something as great as a classical play be subject to censorship? Thanks to Henderson and his translation, we now know exactly what the Athenians saw when they watched Aristophanes.

I love Gail Gibbons books! Her books do such a great job of explaining information without dumbing anything down. I picked this up when my 4 year old was asking all sorts of questions about the weather. We homeschool , so I decided to do a whole weather unit for her and this book fit in nicely. Weather Words does a great job of explaining weather topics and situations in a simple and engaging way. My kids loved the illustrations. It been almost a year since I bought this book and it is still a favorite.

Hollar for Gail Gibbons! Kid said "I understand the weather now. I want to read more!" Inpatient Grandma said, "I learned a lot. Who knew at my age that I could learn so much about the weather from a children's book." Distractible child said "It was clear. I like how the pictures are laid out. It's not crazy busy." Mom said, Just Perfect. Good quality for a paperback edition. No dumbing things down, but clearly written for a youth audience.

I got this book for my grandson's 4th birthday, along with "My First Weather Station" from Plow and Hearth. He was starting to become interested in weather and was asking questions like, "Where does snow come from?" and "Why is it foggy?" This book answers many questions like that, and is quickly becoming one of his favorite books.

This has been a wonderful resource for my 3 and 4 year old boys as we are learning about the weather. The perfect balance of information and illustrations. This book does a very good job at explaining the terminology without dumbing it down. -Maggie D

I just graduated veterinary school, and the internists refer to Ettinger as their Bible. Sure, it may be true that Ettinger is more complete than Nelson - after all, it's two volumes compared to one. However, in the real world, Nelson & Couto is FAR more clinically useful than Ettinger.Nelson reads exactly like Fossum's surgery textbook. It lays out every disease process by system, and then introduces them, describes them, and informs on how best to treat the disease. It focuses on useful details that will help you in clinics. It doesn't go into too much extraneous information that would just make it harder to read (like Ettinger).If you want research detail, get Ettinger. If you want a useful book in clinics or practice, get Nelson & Couto.

Very interesting read, I'm an RVT in Kansas attending Pre-Veterinary courses and reading this in my spare time. This text explores all of the subjects in much more depth than the texts for veterinary technicians.

I find the book lacking in detail I've become accustomed to in Ettinger. I primarily purchased it to use on my iPad, however I am very disappointed with the ebook quality. It takes minimal advantage of the ebook format -hyperlinks are used minimally - for example in the Chapter Outlines at the beginn of each chapter you cannot jump to the subchapters, rather you must go page by page. This is very frustrating and should be one of the distinct advantages of an ebook over paper.Unfortunately the ebook Ettinger did not get a good review either.I will probably write this off and go back to my hard copy Ettinger. The ebook environment for medical or scientific texts is still in its infancy so beware!

got book to have an updated IM book, since my other IM book was more than 10 years old. have not reviewed inside the book in detail yet.

I have returned to practise after a really long break. I have found this text a fantastic resource in helping me restore and build my knowledge base. It is so readable - how many texts could you imagine reading while you eat your breakfast! - with facts, opinion and local user knowledge supplemented by practical tables and diagrams. For every-day veterinary medicine I doubt that there is a better text.

Simple, clear explanations, plenty of pictures and tables. Useful quick reference for every day use. Probably not quite as detailed as Kirk or Ettinger but does not have the complications of multiple volumes (Ettinger's rule is that the page you need is always in the other volume!)

This allows me to carry this text in a much lighter (weightwise) format. Drs. Nelson and Couto are the tops in their fields, and have edited an outstanding book that is necessary in any veterinarian's library. The only knock I have on the kindle version, is the same knock on every kindle medical text I have seen so far. Many times, looking for a topic is not as quick as it is when you are actually holding the real book. Yes, you can get to the index easy enough, but you have to page through the index one page at a time to get to the topic you want. That's ok if you are looking at an auto-immune diseases, not so good if you are looking for stomatitis.

About the Author

While attending college at Nihon University, in 1988, Kentaro Miura debuted a 48-page manga known as Berserk Prototype, an introduction to the current Berserk fantasy world. It went on to win Miura a prize from the Comi Manga School. In 1989, after receiving a doctorate degree, Kentarou started a project titled King of Wolves based on a script by Buronson, writer of Hokuto no Ken (Fist Of The North Star).In 1990, the first volume Berserk was released with a relatively limited success. Miura again collaborated with Buronson on manga entitled Japan. Miura's fame grew after Berserk began "The Golden Age" story arc and the huge success of this masterpiece made of him one of the most prominent contemporary manga artists.In 1997, Miura supervised the production of 25 anime episodes of Berserk that aired in the same year on NTV. The series has also spawned a whole host of merchandise, both official and fan made, ranging from statues and action figures, to key rings, video games, and a trading card game. In 2002, Kentaro Miura received the second place in the Tezuka Osamu (Astro Boy) Cultural Prize of Excellence for Berserk. The author lives in Tokyo, Japan.

This is the 16th volume in the Berserk series and finishes the story arc involving The Misty Valley, Jill, and the Queen of Elves. The Queen of Elves’ true background is also revealed.Guts gets beat up pretty bad during his battle with the Queen of Elves and is immediately set upon by the Holy Iron Chain Knights lead by Lady Farnese. After winning a duel with one of their knights, Guts is beset upon by multiple knights and ends up captured.The illustration continues to be very well done. This volume was very violent and gory, just like previous volumes. There were some awesome fight scenes between both Guts and the Queen of Elves and Guts and the Holy Iron Chain Knights. There was tons of action in this volume but not as much story development.Overall this was a great continuation of this series. I prefer a little more story development than was here, but there were a lot of great action scenes. I would recommend to mature readers who enjoy fantasy horror manga.

As the title of my review suggests, there isn't alot of rest for the Black Swordsman in volume 16. The book starts out with Guts fighting the fairy queen, Rosine, who has a few tricks up her sleave for Guts, and ultimately transforms into a more powerful form and the battle takes on a whole new level testing Guts to the limit again. Sadly, after a well deserved and hard fought victory, he encounters the Holy Chain knights, who have terrible timing since he just fought one of his toughest foes yet, and is captured. The leader of the Holy Chain Knights, Lady Farnese, becomes more than a little frustrated with Guts' disreguard for their religious beleifs, and she reveals a deeply conflicted personality, one that hopefully we will get to learn more about and see her character grow in the series.One of the more notable parts of this book are the manifested "Beast of Darkness", an apparition within Guts which taunts him at times and commands him to spill more blood. The Beast takes many shapes but most often it takes the silhouette of a large wolf. Another important note is Guts' image itself, as he seems to appear more like the evil he's fighting than a normal man, as if the horrors he endures again and again have twisted him into something else entirely. It's not the prevalent image of him by far, but in this novel you see Guts' appearance change into something more reminiscent of a monster or a devil, like he belongs in the darkness more, or at least like he is certainly not out of place there to say the least.I thought seeing this side of Guts outside of a battle and during a simple conversation a little exciting and troubling at the same time. It marks an interesting change in Guts' character, one I can't wait to see develop in the story. This was a fairly good novel of the bunch, one that deserves a read, it's also pretty good action and character growth so it goes by faster than some, but it leaves you hanging. None the less, I highly recommend this installment of the series.

If you've made it to 16 you are already hooked. If not, start at vol 1 (it may take some a few volumes to get sucked in, Miura was much younger when he wrote the initial volumes).

As a Berserk fan, you need this volume.

I think this book well summarizes everything I like about the series to date, it has good action scenes, good interactions, and a bit of dark humor.I disagree with an earlier reviewer, I am glad that Dark Horse is now translating the sound effects - I also like the fact that they're not just ham-handedly trying to convert it into English equivalents there are some things for which it just doesn't work. (The 'sound' of something being noticed, for example).
