I was looking at this book for myself, when I realized that it is meant for teens/tweens. I went ahead and purchased it for my 10 year old daughter, who is a swimmer. I love that this book explains the importance of exercise and nutrition during their lifetime - and especially important for athletes. I also love that it explains the importance of strength training/core strengthening, no matter what your sport. We have always taught our daughter about sports nutrition and "out of the water" training, but I think that she believes it more when she hears it from another athlete and it is in print. Solidifies what we have told her all along.

I found this book to be motivating and inspiring, with a plethora of good tips. This book is geared for teenage girls, but I found it useful even as a mom in her late thirties. I plan to pass this book on to my eleven year old daughter next. Bethany creatively addresses many issues facing young girls and women today. She lovingly encourages girls to be fit for their health, rather then just to be thin. She also gives advice on eating and growing closer to God. It's is a wonderful book.

This is a great book for tween and teen girls! I wNt my daughters to have a healthy approach to life, and a positive self-esteem, and I think this is a great tool toward providing them with that. Bethany Hamilton has addressed workouts, recipes and daily life for girls in such a healthy, balanced way. I love that she emphasizes her relationship with God as being a vital part of her health and wholeness. My daughters personally wish there were more vegetarian recipes since we don't eat meat, but they still really like this book. Keep up the good work, Bethany!

The author covers a wide variety of healing modalities in her book. Most I was familiar with, but I like how the book is organized, explaining step by step what she went through to find healing. I was especially happy to see her cover Hulda Clark's material on getting rid of parasites. Hulda has a few amazing books out on how the immune system is damaged, and how to fix it in "A Cure for all disease", "A Cure for Aids" and a "Cure for all Cancer".

My #1 health book to go to! Detoxing 'in order' is very important. Tamara St John is the only person I've found who explains, not only the order of detoxing but the 'how to' in plain easy to understand English. I highly recommend Tamara's books and training. She learned by going through it herself.... She's already done the research most of us don't have time for or don't know where to start.

I'm currently reading this book right now and I'm learning so much. This book is heaven sent. It's full of information on how to heal your body. Thank Tamara for sharing all of your knowledge with other. I would recommend this book to friends, family, and anyone who is dealing with health issues.

The story of how Octavian killed two of Cleopatra's children while giving the rest to his sister Octavia is known by any fan of the Roman empire, what isn't know is how did they grew up in Egypt, in Rome, how did they feel in a strange land, and this book answers those questions with a mix of facts and fictions, plus the real history at the end of the book.A lot of historians consider Octavian to be the greatest Roman emperor, but he was ruthless, and this book shows that.The issue of slavery is dealt with fairly, anti-slavery voices are presented, this is based on history since Cicero believed that slaves should be treated kindly, and that you should treat people beneath your station as you wish those above your station would treat you.The story also features a character known as "The Red Eagle" and the emperor's quest to uncover him, so throughout the book you will be wondering who is the red eagle, and how come he's posting things against slavery and causing problems?The only thing I didn't like is that at times, Cleopatra's children act like Egypt is better than Rome in everything. This isn't the case, Cleopatra was a QUEEN, and like Octavian, he could have people killed. The Romans could be cruel, but they were citizens, they had rights, trials, and yes, there was corruption, but even a corrupt State is better than any monarchy.Overall, it's a great book. A lot of Roman books are about the military, this one is about the people and not just any people, but the aristocracy and the people around them.

Absolutely absorbing history. Starts at the end of Egyptian rule by Marc Anthony and Cleopatra. After there family in dead The twins Selene and Alexander and younger brother Polythus are taken to Rome to live. Reading you will meet Octavian (later Emperor Augustus) and his family. They keep the twins alive to show mercy. Its interesting reading and learning about how the twins grow in Rome, how Romans lived, the classes of citizens and unrest within the royal family and the kingdom. Highly recommend for all the history buffs and many others would like this also. First book that has made me tear up this year.

This is the second of Michelle Moran's novels that I have read. The first was The Heretic Queen. I thoroughly enjoyed both stories! Michelle has an undeniable talent for transporting the reader into worlds long since dissolved into history. If you are the type of person who likes strong female leads and leaders, historical accuracy*, and a captivating novel - you will likely enjoy this novel. (*As a footnote, I am not a history buff and I am not going to verify her findings or dispute her Author's Note, as to the accuracy or the liberties that she took with some characters.) I did find that Cleopatra's Daughter started more slowly than did The Heretic Queen. I felt as if I was muscling through the beginning a bit, but was NOT disappointed that I did.

Very well told slice-of-life fiction depicting the early reign of Octavian. Following the death of Cleopatra and Antony, their two pre-teen children are taken prisoner by the victorious Octavian and brought to Rome where they spend roughly the next 10 years living in the emperor's household with all of its heroism, petty jealousies, and intrigues . The novel gives us a grand look at Roman life and morality. Overall the picture painted is not pretty but partly for that reason it seems real. Another reason it seems real is that the author did his historical homework. The children are fictional, but the events depicted in and around Rome and the life led by Rome's poor and political elite during that time are not. A great folding together of fiction and history.

This is one of those rare books you hate to finish. Moran’s first person narrator transports the reader to ancient Rome with the sights, sounds and smells vividly presented. The attention to detail in the descriptions of the buildings and homes is as if the reader is standing in the dusty streets of the city. At no point does the story get boring, with each chapter building on the previous ones. I haven’t enjoyed a book this much in a long time and look forward to others in this series.

I love historical fiction, and this book took me into a world that has always interested me - that of the Roman Empire. I've read other historical fiction books that paint the main characters differently, but I enjoyed this one the best. Selene Cleopatra's journey from Egypt as a captured child to queen (although not of Egypt) captured what I imaged it would have been like at the time. I felt the characters were developed and painted issues of the time from different perspectives while being entertaining and fun to read. Some of the events are real, and I learned new things about the time period. Just overall an enjoyable read.

The book is well written and obviously the author is very knowlegable about ancient Rome. I read the book because I was interested in what happened to Cleopatra's and Marc Antony's children. I thought it would make an intruguing story however I will still have to wait. Nothing much happens here. Cleopatra's son, Alexander, and daughter, Selene go to Rome to live with Marc Antony's very nice divorced wife, Octavia. They meet her nice children , meet Julia, Octavian's daughter who is a a little spoiled but basically good-hearted, and Tiberius, Octavian's step-son who is a little snotty but gives no indication that he will turn out to be a monster. Octavian's wife Julia is not nice and neither is Octavian. Nothing much happens the aristocratic children shop, go to chariot races, worry about slavery (Selene is a budding abolitionist), and wonder who is writting nasty graffetti about Octavian on every blank wall in Rome. There is also the enigmatic Jubal who is Octavian's friend and also a displaced prince like Selene. The only thing I found a little jarring is that the children in the book are about 10 years old and they behave like they are thirty. I accept that Roman children grew up fast but it would have been interesting if every once in awhile you could see the children in the characters.
